I found a solution to this, my problem was identical.

I was working without the Intel graphics driver as a workaround, as I disabled it after reading posts like yours, but that meant I could not use a monitor.  I found an article online that worked. Here's what they recommended.

Step 1:  Enable the Intel Iris Driver and connect to a monitor so you can see (as your laptop screen will go back to black)

Step 2: Go to Intel driver download and update the driver (I'm not putting the step by step for that).  I'm using driver 25.20.100.6373

Step 3.  Shut down the laptop.

Step 4. Remove the back of the laptop, this takes a Torx #5 and a small Phillips head.

Step 5. Unplug the battery for 5 mins.

Step 6. Put it all together, turn it on and the laptop is fixed upon powering it up.

I bought the torx set for $5 on Amazon and it's done.  I'm sure this will come back to haunt me, but I know how to replace it when it happens again.  This is an otherwise great product, but this is totally unacceptable.  I'm going for a Macbook Air next time.

Just got the black screen earlier today. Only occurs once any Intel graphics driver has been installed (Microsoft Basic Display Driver has no issue). Problem persists through complete system wipe and reinstall of Windows. External displays work fine.

I read somewhere that when the Intel driver is updated it physically updates the Dell's display hardware, not just the Windows OS (not sure how that happens). Once the hardware has been modified we're basically SOL. Again, I spoke to Dell about this. For something like $350 I could send it in for repair. My concern is what's to stop this BS from happening again. Come on Dell - FIX THIS!!!

Exact same problem here since yesterday, only occurs with Intel graphics driver - display is fine in safe mode and when Intel driver is disabled/uninstalled, works fine on external display.

Crazy that Dell seem to be ignoring such a massive issue with one of their most premium laptops.

I have exactly the same issue, when install the Intel graphics driver black screen, and when is disabled works fine.

Dell cannot just fix that with a firmware update ?

Welcome to the club.  If history means anything, Dell could care less. . . .
