XPS 15 9500, DMC not working?

After running Dell mobile connect for some time on my 2020 XPS 15 9500 the latest update is suddenly telling me 'Sorry, but this system does not have the minimum requirements for running Dell Mobile Connect'. Like what?

Help, please?

I wrote a step by step guide of what I did to make it work again.
see my preceding “SOLVED !“ comment.
simply add two registry values.

open an administrator level command prompt (Start →  Find Command Prompt → Right Click Command Prompt → Click Run As Administrator)

Heli_Guy_0-1613902689139.jpeg

Then entering the following two commands.

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v OEMID /f /t REG_SZ /d DELL

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v StoreContentModifier /f /t REG_SZ /d "DELL_XPS"

Heli_Guy_1-1613902689226.jpeg

This returns operations to normal without even requiring a reboot.

@hodt1 @Heli_Guy @Mike Schmieg guys, can you look in your registry for the following value?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Screenovate\BluePhone

Do you happen to have any value there?

I looked at

c:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Dell\DellMobileConnect\scremote.core.log

That has the following errors:

[21/02/21 18:42:48.035 | tid:14312 | BluePhoneClient.App.xaml | off]: StartLogging() Starting XAML app version 3.2.0.9771, Command line: "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ScreenovateTechnologies.DellMobileConnect_3.2.9771.0_x64__0vhbc3ng4wbp0\app\DellMobileConnectClient.exe" /InvokerPRAID: DellMobileConnectClient /from_uwp, log level = 3, all logs=False special flag off

Did you solve the problem? I have the same problem. Fresh install didn't solve it. After updating app from Store, it won't start anymore!

Dell Mobile Connect works for me after adding the two regitry items I wrote in the earlier post.

I checked my computer's registry, don't have an entry for: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Screenovate.

It goes from Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RTLSetup to Setup. See screenshot below. https://imgur.com/fQ03QsR

Quote: The new version of DMC has a new identification requirement which can be resolved by opening an administrator level command prompt (Start → Find Command Prompt → Right Click Command Prompt → Click Run As Administrator) Dell Command Center.jpg Then entering the following two commands. REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v OEMID /f /t REG_SZ /d DELL REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v StoreContentModifier /f /t REG_SZ /d "DELL_XPS" Unquote. @Heli_Guy, this was the solution posted earlier in this thread, but it doesn't work for everyone. That's the problem remaining.

I second what @Mike Schmieg posted - apparently tried the solution posted by @Heli_Guy , but it didn't work for me - I have a Precision M7540.  I've set the DELL strings to both DELL_XPS and DELL_INSPRRON, but none worked so I've reverted back to version 3.0.9346 which have been working.

Hopefully Dell fixes this soon with a newer update...

I have XPS 9560 and those registry entries are in place from the begining. So adding something that is already there has no point.

The error I get is:

TryGetRegistryKeyString() couldn't open registry path SOFTWARE\Screenovate\BluePhone under hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

@BogdanBBO

I just did a search in HKEY_Local_Machine for Screenovate and there are a number of entries, just none that have been posted so far. From what I can gather from the information in those entries, this is created by installing the Dell DMC drivers which are available in Drivers and Downloads on the Dell Support site. These drivers need to be installed before DMC will work and that may be the problem that some are having here.

Well, I installed the drivers that Dell instructed me to and it created zero entries under HKLM\Software\Screenovate\BluePhone, so clearly something else needs to create those entries. Kudos to @VlsisFrm for spotting that one. All we need to know now is what entries DMC is looking for.

OK with my Inspiron 7791 2&1

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v OEMID /f /t REG_SZ /d DELL

REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v StoreContentModifier /f /t REG_SZ /d "DELL_XPS"

@TV John

I have no entry for HKLM\Software\Screenovate\BluePhone (or even Screenovate), but there are a lot of Screenovate entries in other various keys and it is working fine on my system. I was just missing the OEMID and the SCMID.

Please will people stop posting replies about the OEMID and StoreContentModifier registry entries. It's great if it works for you but there are about a hundred entries now saying exactly the same thing and there are some of us for whom it isn't working. Thank you.
