XPS 15 9550 Keyboard will not work after sleep
I have 9550 with Windows 10 Pro, up to date (not 1903). When waking my computer from sleep mode, the keyboard does not work, the touchpad does. It will work again once you restart. My machine is up to date with all drivers (intel, microsoft, dell) including the BIOS update.

The same thing has just started happening for me. After returning from sleep the keyboard is inoperative and I have to restart. I've had the XPS for 3 years without seeing this issue, just started a few days ago but have not updated the BIOS in that time. I've seen a suggestion that it may be something to do with the CMOS battery.

I'll order one and we'll see. The lack of help from Dell is really making me consider a different brand at this point.

Hi Auzzy,
Thanks for posting and for providing your service tag information.
Unfortunately, based on the service tag number, the warranty has expired. You can await a reply from other community members or contact the Dell Out of Warranty Support Team.

OK, this is looking more likely. I discharged the battery completely and this caused all my BIOS settings to be lost. So hopefully replacing the CMOS battery will correct the keyboard/after sleep issue.

I contacted Dell and they said to replace the CMOS battery I had to replace the entire motherboard..... What a joke. I'm replacing this with a Thinkpad X1 Extreme from Lenovo and calling it a day. Lack of simple support, and ludicrous claims.... done.

This worked for me...
You just need to go into BIOS and enable the AHCI SATA mode.
Found it here:
