I had a similar problem for 6 months. I found holding Windows key + Shift+Ctrl+B would reboot the video card drivers and fix things for awhile. Then I noticed the freezing stopped when I had a CMD window open with Dir c:\*.* /s running.
I used Microsoft ProcMon to find esrv_svc.exe and explorer.exe opening my micro SD and searching folders. The Micro SD was directly in the laptop slot.
I searched the hard drive and found esrv_svc.exe was in an Intel folder. Then found an Intel support article suggesting to reinstall Intel Driver Update Utility and select no to the automatic customer feedback. Then remove the Intel Driver Update Utility using add and remove programs.
Doing the above has worked for more than a day.
These were from the article.
