XPS 15-9570, not recognizing XPS 15-9550 battery
I took delivery of a XPS 15 9570 some weeks ago that came with the 96 Wh battery as stock configuration.
I becan modifying this XPS for my needs to use both of the hard drive slots. This involves replacing the 96Wh with a smaller DELL 56 Wh battery that frees up the space for the 2.5" drive. I ordered a Dell kit with the drive install parts from a U.S company and a 56 Wh battery from a german battery company who claim this is genuine Dell batteries.Battery comparison 96Wh vs 56Wh
But upon connecting the charger the front laptop LED indicator keeps flashing an alternating Orange/White.
When booting I get a message that the battery may not be DELL original and will not be charged.
This boldly offers to sell me a genuine DELL battery, but when I go to that URL that DELL battery site seems over and done with ?
If I use the Windows 10 Powershell battery report command "powercfg /batteryreport"
it generates what looks like credible data about the 56 Wh battery:

The code in the picture seems to belong to an older XPS 15 9550 battery? There are a few reports that these won't charge in the 9570.

RRCGW Battery not working with 9570. Means is working but not charging :( and bios tells that is not original battery from Dell. You have to buy H5H20 or 5D91C battery. I had the same problem with the same situation.

@samos1111 Thanks for the info ! When I ordered it I had read conversion articles by users of these other XPS 15 models not understanding that there exists several models of the 56 Wh batteries.

@Mohinder1971 ! You were right ! I can confirm I ordered a battery explicitly claimed to be a H5H20/5D91C battery and the 9570 started up right away now with no complaints. So now I can go ahead with my intended plan, to run a dual boot configuration with Windows 10 Pro and Ubuntu, both encrypted with their respective encryption systems, but each isolated onto their own hard drive. I lose on battery capacity but in my usage pattern I rarely need to stay on battery for hours on time.

Just adding some Dell part number data to this thread.
Neither RRCGW nor H5H20 show in the internal SPMD (Spare Parts Master Database). M7R96 does appear as a 56WHR, 3 cell battery only for the XPS 15-9550 and Precision 5510.
These are all of the Dell validated lithium ion battery part numbers for the XPS 15-9570 =
GPM03 97WHR, 6 cell
5XJ28 97WHR, 6 cell
5D91C 56WHR, 3 cell
CP6DF 56WHR, 3 cell

Chris, thanks for providing this detail ! I would assume that the 56Wh battery that finally worked (2nd I tried) is a 5D91C.
As earlier posters have cautioned, the experienced battery capacity is markedly less with the 56Wh but this worked to try out the dual drive configuration.
In that configuration I keep Windows 10 Pro on one drive and an encypted Ubuntu 18 on the 2.5" drive thus allowing the Ubuntu installer to encrypt the entire drive without conflict with the WIndows installation.
However diving deeper into the details I later learnt it IS possible to partition a single drive to keep both OS'es on the same drive using the Ubuntu installer "Something else" install alternative. So I will soon spend time reverting back to the full width battery.
