XPS 15 Killer AX1650 SLOW

There have been several posts on this subject, and I have raised a ticket with DELL.

XPS 15 9500 Killer AX1650 WIFI running at a fraction of the speed of other computers in the house.

I have followed all the advised strategies suggested by Tech Support and occasionally get the WIFI speed up only for it to slip down to almost nothing minutes later. Including the following from DELL:

"A.  Please manually update BIOS and Wireless card driver in https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk

Note: Make sure to suspend BitLocker prior to flashing the BIOS on systems that have BitLocker enabled. If BitLocker is not suspended, the next time you reboot the system it will not recognize the BitLocker key. You will then be prompted to enter the recovery key to progress and the system will ask for this on each reboot.

To suspend Bitlocker:

B.  Run Windows network troubleshooter

To run the Windows network troubleshooter:
   For Windows 7,8,10
   1. Start from the Windows desktop
   2. Look for the wireless icon in the taskbar
   3. Right click on the wireless icon and select troubleshoot problems
   4. Follow the onscreen instructions

C. Reset Winsock

Windows comes with Dynamic Link Library (DLL) called winsock.dll that implements the API and coordinates Windows programs and TCP/IP connections.

But sometimes Windows Sockets or Winsock may get corrupted as a result of which you may not be able to connect to the Internet. It may therefore need to be repaired.

Reset Winsock
To reset Winsock in Windows 10/8/7, open CMD as admin, type the following and hit Enter:
   netsh winsock reset

If you are using IPv4, type netsh int ipv4 reset and hit Enter. If you use ipv6, type netsh int ipv6 reset and hit Enter.

Note:  Ensure to create a system restore point first,  You will have to restart your computer after Winsock reset.

D.  Power cycle PC / Modem / Router

E.  Download and run SupportAssist
   1. Download and install SupportAssist
   2. Click Start > All Programs
   3. Navigate to Dell > SupportAssist and launch the program
   4. Once SupportAssist launches, click on Checkup > Scan a Specific Device
   5. Under Communication Devices > Select Wireless Card (Requires a connection to a wireless network)
   6.  Restart the system after using SupportAssist

F.  Remove the network and reconnect to it

G.  Check wireless adapter settings for optimal performance

   1. Click Start.
   2.  Right-click Computer and then click Properties.
   3. Click Device Manager in the upper left corner.
   4. In the Device Manager window, expand the Network Adapters.
   5.  Double-click on the Wireless Adapter (for model specific information, go to dell.com).
   6. Follow the steps for the required model of WLAN card.

H.  Reset the network adapter
   1. From the Windows start or search box type View Network Connections and run it.
   2. Right-click on the wireless network adapter and click Disable.
Note:  Enter the administrator password if prompted
   3. Right-click on the wireless network adapter and click Enable."

Some have suggested a driver conflict.

This new laptop will have to be replaced or refunded if this is not sorted pronto.

Has anyone found a solution to this? DELL appear to be struggling with a definitive solution

Just remove all the killer software/driver from computer and it will work just fine. The killer driver is the issue.

yeah, mine is too - getting 300-400 mbps on all other devices - 30-80mbps on XPS 9305

tried all the above steps

also uninstalled Killer bloatware

running Google Fiber w/Google mesh routers, but like I said: all other devices showing 4X speeds compared to 9305
