XPS 15 not recognizing headphone's remote volume buttons

Hi,

I've just bought the XPS 15 and when I plug in my Bose QC25s into my new laptop, although sound is played through them, the volume control buttons on my headphones don't work. I was using a Macbook pro prior to this and the buttons worked fine on that.

Please could you advise how to solve this issue.

Kind regards,

Alex

There's actually no industry standard way to send volume control and next/previous track signals through a headphone jack.  Apple has their standard that works with their products, and Bose makes products specifically meant to operate with Apple products -- and in some cases they make other variants of that same product to operate with Android devices, because again these controls aren't standardized.  So there's probably no way to use those with a PC, in fact I'm not sure PCs have any mechanism at all for accepting volume or playback control commands through a headphone jack.  The only headsets I've seen where that's available have been USB versions since they have a formal data channel to facilitate that.
