XPS 9380, touchpad, dead zone

The touchpad on Dell XPS 9380 has a dead zone. Basically whenever I tap and move the cursor slowly in the red zone (see picture) it doesn't move at all, even if I move my finger super fast. However in any other zone it works flawlessly. If I start moving my finger outside the red zone and move it to the red zone, the cursor moves how it should. If I start in the red zone and move my finger outside of it, the cursor begins to move. So It's not just dead zone, it is semi-dead zone

Due to this issue scrolling can be jumpy. If one of my fingers goes to the red zone while scrolling, the cursor moves all the way to the top or the bottom of the screen. It appears on all of the touchpad sensitivity settings. All drivers are up-to-date. How can I resolve this issue? I have a basic warranty plan.
