XPS9310 + D6000: DisplayLink crashes after recent driver updates

After recent updates to my XPS9310 (see below)...

D6000 DisplayLink driver crashes:

KristinaS_1-1618473199198.png

I've tried both DisplayLink drivers -- from Dell support website and from DisplayLink website -- but no luck:

  • DisplayLink-Driver-for-Dell-SuperSpeed-USB3-Universal_VHPDW_WIN_9.3.3324.0_10.2.3.EXE
  • DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows 10.1 M0.exe
Any ideas or news on driver update?

Thanks.

I've managed to solve the issue by downgrading Intel video driver to 27.20.100.9316:

The fix is simple and doesn't require rolling back the video driver,  at least not in my cases.
The issue LOGICALLY is display link.
Problem is it will not allow you to reinstall when this happens.
**Solution**
Uninstall both instances of the dock from device manager
You can now reinstall display link which resolves the issue.

It has always worked for me.  Good Luck.

KristinaS,

I have no information of any driver updates. Uninstall the instances in the device manager for the dock and reboot the system.  Once back up you can install the driver for the dock from here.  Also, if you have not updated the Dock firmware you should do that as well.

KristinaS,

Following up to see if reinstalling the driver and updating the firmware resolved the issue? Let us know.

Yes fixed for me as well. This driver was pushed by the Dell update system so they do have some responsibility to test it first, especially with their own hardware. Only a few weeks since they finally fixed the 9310 crashes coming out of sleep bug.

I experienced the exact same problem.  Rolling back the recent Intel UHD Graphics Driver update to version 27.20.100.9316 solved the problem for me too.

Hello.

We will see about replicating this internally. Video driver version 27.20.100.9456 was the problem, correct? ^JKC

Thank you so much for this. After trying everything from deleting Displaylink Driver, reinstalling, testing with other cables, wasted 1 hr with Dell support  just to be told that "we know this is a problem, the solution is to do a factory reset!!!!!!" Even after asking how about rolling back driver update they were adamant only Factory Resetting the laptop will fix it. but this worked like a charm!

Yes, downgrading the driver fixes the issue. Dell didn't fix the issue after replacing the motherboard, and spending hours updating the system, and asked me to reinstall win 10.

Had the exact same problem after a Windows update. Downgrading the video driver solved the issue!

Are you reinstalling using the latest 10.1 drivers from DisplayLink or the older ones that are part of the Dell D6000 dock setup?

Worked for me as well. Thanks for the assist. Hopefully Dell support is paying attention and gets a fix out soon.
