XMS Simulator available to customers ?
If yes, what can we do with it, limitations ? (would love to use it for scripting, in-house training).
Thank you

It has not been made available externally at this point. This would be reviewed in future when we have some experience and feedback from our internal users.

Sure - we will get there too. Taking baby steps for now
Out of curiosity - what would you want to use the simulator for?

XMS simulator is an offering in XtremIO code level 4.2.0.
The XtremIO XMS Simulator can be used for the following purposes:
• Demos
• Product training
• Comparing XMS/XtremIO version release functionality
• Resting scripts against XtremIO's RESTful API
• XtremIO development, testing and simulation
Try contacting your local account/sales team to verify if they can distribute a copy or provide a demo. Looks like your needs are facilitated as per the above points.
Limitation wise, NDU, FRU and OCEs can cannot be simulated.
Hope this helps.

I imagine as it's just being made available externally for the first time now, that they want to have a very close relationship with those using it to ensure it's meeting their needs and isn't doing anything weird.

Anthony,
so why not make it available just like your other simulators (VNX, Isilon, Data Domain) ?

I am ok with the statement "this if for testing purposes only", just like other EMC simulators.

Your best bets to follow up with the local account/sales team to give you the details as for plans for availability like VNX, VMAX, etc. Most likely as its just been made available.

And I'm sure once they feel that the simulator is working right and doesn't have any surprises that they'll consider doing that.

All good reasons! UnityVSA is providing all of that from a Unity perspective. It would be nice to have the same for XtremIO.

Please have this conversation with your EMC account team. They should be able to reach out to us internally and we will do what we can to help out.
