Area-51 R3, BIOS update issues

My computer says it needs updated but when I try to I get an error saying "A System BIOS update is required before upgrading to this version of Windows 10" and it provides a link for more information. That link takes me to a problems and solutions page and the solution says that it needs driver updates from the dell website. I went to the drivers and hit 'detect' and originally it gave me 3 driver updates to download and install. When they finished installing, it told me to restart my computer to complete the changes. When I hit restart, it shut down like normal but never actually turned back on, even after hours of waiting. Eventually, I forced it to shut down and turn back on, and when it did my computer still said it needed the BIOS update. I went back to dell and 'detected' again, but this time it only said I had 1 update needed, so I downloaded and installed it. I restarted once it was down and the only difference this time was that my computer beeped a few times as it was shutting down, just for it to fall into that same stagnant state as before. When I eventually gave up waiting and forced shut down again, my computer still said it had that one driver that it needed to update, like it had done nothing. Do I just need to try again and leave my computer alone for a few days? Or am I doing something wrong?

    Hi @Amoement welcome

Generally, if your computer is working ok, don't worry about any urgency of updating. However just to have more info, what Alienware is your rig? is it a recent one?

Just a wild shot, this kind of thing did happen on R3 running windows 10, restarting was blocked unless a few drivers were updated.

Did you try a manual bios update instead of the Dell auto updater? The Dell auto update utility did not work for me when I tried to use it to update my bios. It hung in a loop. I ended up using the manual flashing utility. You can download it from the Dell web site under the updates listed for your alienware.

I have not tried manually, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

    See here:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/alienware-area51-r3/drivers

They must be installed in order. There is only 5. Try to install the next one above yours first.

Press F12 on boot and install them from a flash drive, from this UEFI boot environment.
