I bought this desktop thru the outlet for my son in 2016 and was wondering if you could recommend any upgrades for graphics or speed. He's into competitive gaming. His bday is coming up. He's been saying he'd like a new computer which I can't afford but was wondering if there is any upgrade(s) under $500 that might make an impact. Keep in mind I'll have no clue what you are saying so if you can give me a link to amazon with the part and say get this I would really appreciate it!
Here are the specs:
Alienware X51 R3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 with 2GB GDDR5, 8GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2133MHz, Thermal Heatsink Air Cooled Chassis, Processor: Intel Core 6th Generation i7-6700 Processor (Quad Core, up to 4.0 GHz, 8M Cache, 65W, 2 TB 3.5-inch SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!
Just upgraded mine. 8gb to 32 gb, cloned the harddrive to a 2tb SSD and installed a 1tb ssd secondary drive. replaced the gtx 960 2gb with a msi gtx 1650 4gb. Runs better than new.
did you repaint it too? i made mine matte satin white on the sides with gloss black in the middle(like the ps5
