I just got an Area-51m R1. The camera is missing from the device manager. Also, there are no drivers for the camera on dell's official support site for the 51m. Dell Support assist also not detecting camera. Tried adding legacy devices in device manager. Still no camera shows up. Is there a camera lock Function key combination for the 51m?
Hi @s_holmes seemingly the system does not detect the camera hardware, consequently Dell Drivers & Downloads, and Window 10 drivers are not installed in Device Manager. Not sure what Dell POST looks for, but the 'missing' camera is seemingly not on the POST diagnostic test list.
At splash screen, please press and hold down the F12 key, the Boot window will appear, select and run Diagnostics. Dell provides ePSA Diagnostics, run ePSA tests to see what hardware it thinks is installed on your Area-51m, and if Camera test is included. This will take about 20 minutes. When ePSA tests have completed, click on icon in bottom RH corner to see ePSA test results. Also look in LH column to see if ePSA icon for test of camera is included, and if test can be run.
Please share ePSA test status. Is the camera hardware included in test results, etc.? Does the cable test say that all cables are connected? Thank you.

Dell and Intel have responded to the Plundervolt vulnerability and 100°C is the new safe threshold for the Intel CPU temperature, which should always be less than 100°C (boiling point of water). Don't put the laptop on your lap, use a wood tray and increase the air gap at bottom, rear.
Before taking everything apart looking for camera & microphone hardware problem, try to get their drivers installed in Device Manager. Try Intel Driver & Support Assistant and let it identify your products and get driver and software updates for you.
Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

Hey..Thanks for the reply!! Sorry for taking so long..I had accepted that it was a hardware problem.
So I ran the ePSA diagnostics today...and I ran into a problem. My laptop was getting very dusty, and I knew it. I had just put off cleaning it for so long now. I don't get time to play games these days so I wasn't taxing the system that much for a while. But during the test, an error showed that the CPU reached 100 degrees and it stopped. I knew what was up. Disassembled and cleaned out the fans. There was more dust than I care to admit..but i cleaned it out and changed the paste. Then put it back together and ran it again.
So, all the tests showed that it has PASSED in everything. There was no "CAMERA" section to the test, but USB devices and CABLES showed PASSED and there were no errors in the log. When I disassembled, I made sure that i put in the camera cable properly too.
I downloaded the SUPPORT ASSIST app to see it there were additional troubleshooting options, but the CAMERA isn't even listed in the "I want to check a specific piece of hardware" section. My microphone is also not working...is it a problem of the camera module then?
Yes. I put the laptop on a raised laptop stand always.
The camera is not showing up in the device manager! The microphone shows up as Realtek audio, but when i search for drivers, it says the best ones are already installed and the properties section says that the device is working properly.
Downloaded and ran the Intel Driver and Support Assistant. It did not find the Camera drivers.
Yes, I'll keep posting the updates. I've benefitted from these forums countless times.
