m17 R1, fans won't turn off

Hello,

I've had my Alienware m17 R1 for a little over a year and a half now. I've had a load of issues that I've had to call Dell for; this problem continues to persist however. For about 6 months now a couple times a month my CPU and system fans will just suddenly starting heaving when I turn on the laptop and stay stuck there. I've checked Task Manager during these episodes (One is actually currently happening, caused me to post this question) and the CPU and Disk are both under 10% usage. It's not being cause by high strain from the CPU or Disk. Only thing I'm running is my browser. I'll try restarting and it stays. I'll just turn it off and turn it back on again, and it stays. I'll try using SupportAssist (tells me everything is running good and up to date), I'll check Windows Update in settings (everything is up to date), I'll go to Dell support Driver's/Downloads and run their Driver tool to check if I am up to date there (everything is good). Nothing gets it to turn off. Eventually, after I've been dealing with it all day, if I'm not on it, say overnight, when I turn it back on in the morning, it'll have just disappeared. Then about a week later (a handful of days), It'll do the same thing. About a month ago, I even did an OS Recovery and it didn't fix the issue. I don't know where else to go from here. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for me! Thank you.

Sincerely,

A frazzled customer
