Go to Solutionm17 R3, within a few hours my AWCC stopped working
Hey guys,
Hoping someone can fix this for me.
I received my m17 R3 today and it was all going great (for the first hour!). But then I plugged my matching AW610M mouse in and it then advised me that I needed to reinstall the AWCC (Alienware Command Center). I thought this was a bit odd but assumed it knew what it was doing.
After this I just got this big ball of spinning balls and it just hangs there. A notification pops up saying "Service Running Required - the AWCC is loading please wait 30 seconds. etc etc etc.
Seriously. as this is my third Dell laptop in 2 months (the XPS 15 and 17 I had to send back for various issues) I would love if this just didn't happen.
Anyone have any sure fire way to fix this easily?

This did not work for me, but I appreciate the post. I just encountered this ridiculous problem today.
I managed to find a workaround, but it has a drawback.
1. Uninstall all MS Visual and ACC
2. Restart
3. Redownload ACC from the Microsoft Store. This is an older version4. ACC will be able to function and you can control FX + Fusion. That's a positive.
5. The negative is that every time you restart your computer and open ACC, it will give the "Service running" prompt and you have to Allow it through UAC. You have to do this step every time.
Hi @Ruddaga if your AWCC is working, NEVER, EVER install an AWCC update. You might be lucky and get System Restore to reinstate its working function. Otherwise you will waste an inordinate amount of time trying to get it working. Life is too short for customers to try fix these persistent problems. Your best course of action is to reject this m17 r3 and get your money back asap.

1. If your AWCC (and OC Controls) is fully functional, do not update.
2. If you do not need the AWCC (and OC Controls) and it is unstable, delete this troublesome optional application.
3. If you want AWCC (and OC Controls) on your computer, then try the following:-
3a. Download the Revo Uninstaller Free application (and when the delete window appears, select delete with Advanced scanning mode setting). Run Revo Uninstaller to see if AWCC (and OC Controls) is listed. If yes, uninstall your AWCC, press Scan and when prompted select and delete all files, you might get a second prompt to select and delete more files, then restart. You have now removed everything associated with the AWCC. (Repeat to uninstall OC Controls) After restart, you can clean install the AWCC, as if for the first time.
3b. If the most recent AWCC does not work, install an earlier version. You can get the earlier version by opening your Service Tag Support's page, get AWCC driver information > view full driver details > scroll down and click on Version to select from list of earlier versions.
3c. Then install the most recent OC Controls so that AWCC Fusion tab works.
3d. Do not be surprised if AWCC FX tab does not work. (The install AWCC update application requires more work.)

Hi @Ruddaga agree with your assessment. It's not the fault of laptop providers that Intel cores run normally in an excessively hot configuration. It is clear that Intel acknowledge these problems with their Intel 11th gen cores that have been specifically designed for slim laptops, run cool and consume less power so that battery charge lasts longer.

Well I remember when older Alienware were not the thinnest but still powerful while keeping the thermals in check.
i don’t understand why people need to change the design of the laptop every couple of years due to someone saying “oh yeah, this is good but it’d be better if it were thinner.” Like come on, you’re putting similar desktop power CPU’s with a super series graphics card in a MacBook thin level of size with what? A vapor chamber and a back exhaust?
thats really not that good but it was just a thing that was sitting on my mind for that long.

I was able to get it working eventually but it took a week of the same Tech rep calling me back and trying to work through the issue with me. In the end it turned out there was some issue with AWCC clashing with Microsoft C++. Had to reinstall everything multiple times and in a specific order to get the modules working to the point where they needed to.
Sadly I'm returning the device anyways due to the over heating and thermal issues this has. Don't get me wrong, beautiful machine to work on BUT after having a few bashes in some games and seeing the device thermal throttle (in a cool room, while elevated (cooling pad on and off to test it) as well as a few other methods) I sadly have to accept that these 10th gen chips just run too hot. If they release a 4000 series version I might come back, but this is not acceptable for me in its current state.
