Erase avamar data

Hello,

Is there any way to safely erase all data from Avamar? We had a customer testing the single node solution, and since it's a financial company, they want to return fully erased node.

Cheers,

Krzysztof

    Hi,

you can securely delete every single backup with securedelete program.

Let's see page 84 of the Avamar 6.1 (if you have the 6.1 server version) Product Security Guide to understand how to do it.

    Bye.

Using securedelete on every backup, while effective, could take a very long time. Krzysztof, if you are a partner with access to the procedure generator, you can find a secure erasure procedure for whole nodes there. Using this procedure removes the RAID configuration from the node so it will have to be returned to EMC to be re-imaged after the erasure.

I have seen that procedure in Product Security Guide, but indeed, the time-consuming proess was the issue. We are the partner of EMC, I tried to find that procedure on the powerlink and EMC Suuport, but wit no success. Where can I find it?

The procedure is in the procedure generator under "Miscellaneous Procedures". Generally speaking, the Data Erasure service is a paid service so be sure to sort out those details before performing the procedure.
