LGDUP and Sharedup
Hi,
We are planning to migrate the CIFS file systems from NS702G to NS480 using IP replicator so for that do we need to copy the local groups from NS702G to NS480 using LGDUP? If we need to run lgdup so from where we need to run? From the windows client where we join with CIFS server? And do we need to export and import any usermapper database?
Thanks

you can run lgdup from any Windows client that's part of the domain and has access to the Celerra
IMHO the easiest way would be to upgrade the NS702G to 5.6, move the CIFS servers to a VDM and use Celerra Replicator to migrate the data
this way the CIFS config can be replicated as well as part of the VDM and you dont need any lgdup, sharedup, emcopy
yes - migrating the usermapper database does make sense
see the Configuring EMC Celerra User Mapping manual for the steps and details
