Newbie question

How can I ensure my brand new shiny NS-G2 luns, utilizing my DMX4 for storage, can see both paths to the DMX?  I want to setup alarms should a path be lost.

this may not be the most elegant but worth a shot. For example every so often run:

    server_devconfig server_2 -c -s -a

this command rescans datamover 2 and updates file /nas/server/slot_2/camdisk

so before you run server_devconfig command you could create a copy of camdisk to your home directory, something like camdisk.pre, run server_devconfig command and then run diff on camdisk.pre and /nas/server/slot_2/camdisk. If diff comes back with output, something has changed in disk configuration. Obviously this alert would trigger when you add new devices to the box but you will be aware of that.

if a path would be lost, you will not see any differences using the server_devconfig server_2 -c -s -a or the correspondig camdisk

instead use server_devconfig server_2 -p -s -a and compare the output of a "clean" state and a broken state.

so if paths get removed, camdisk does not get updated ? It only gets updated when paths/disk get added ?

Thank you for your responses.  Am I to assume the Celerra uses/checks all paths to the lun (both data movers) and if one goes away it will  let me know?

    If it is configured, yes.

Yes, if you remove a disk permanently, it will get purged from the camdisk(s)
