CX300 initialization

I have a cx300. I have no data as far as ip and username and passwords, so I'm trying to initialize it. I'm using an aluratek usb to serial cable and I've connected to both the serial port with the monitor icon and the serial port with the battery icon (I don't know which does what) using 115200 baud, 8 bits, no parity and one stop bit, but I'm not getting a response from hyperterminal. Am I missing something or is my usb to serial cable no good?

I know it's some old hardware, but I need to get it going. Thanks for the help.

You should be able to reset the security database on the CX300 using the Serial cable but that connection uses PPP, it's not a standard console connection.

Use the serial cable and the maintenance port. Create a PPP connection on your Windows laptop (115200 baud, 8, no parity, 1 stop bit) and connect.  I believe you will need the username of "clariion" and password of "clariion!" for the PPP connection. Once connected via PPP, point a web browser to http://192.168.1.1/setup . If you see a username/password prompt, then you haven't connected via the service port. Scroll down until you see "Reset Security" or "Reset Domain Security" - I'm not sure what it will say exactly. Click the reset button and accept the warnings that pop up. Disconnect the serial cable. Now point a web browser to the IP address of SPA and you'll be prompted to set up domain security and set a username/password pair.

If your array is booting up, when the Ready light is steady green, you should be able to establish a PPTP connecting using the serial port on the back of the array. This is the DB9 connector with the Termial icon - that battery icon should have a cable that goes to the bettery. Set your terminal program to 115K, 8, none, 1.

Once you have a PPP connection, then start your broswer and point to 192.168.1.1

OK, fought and fought. I have a 9pin null modem cable (9 pin female on both ends). I either get it's out of order or that the remote machine terminated the connection.

Do I have the right cable?

That's for the cx500. I have the cx300. Do they require the same cable?

Please see KnowledgeBase article on PowerLink -

    emc231754

This contains the pinout for the cable and the part number if you want to order one.
