I am starting to put the cx400 in production. I went ahead and upgraded the Navi to the latest version along with the powerpath.
An issue that im seeing now is this
Server 1 -
-Drive Q - 127GB (OK)
Server 2 -
-Drive Q - 127GB(OK)
so from the looks of it, everything is fine. In the Storage Groups i can
see the servers under hosts. If i right click and try to update server 1 i get
"No configuration information could be loaded"
on the other server
"Updated Successfully"
did i miss a step? If i create a file called test.txt i can't see it on the other server...very odd.
Are these two servers in cluster and sharing the same LUN? If yes - then you 'll be able to access the LUN from one server (which is active for that Disk resource) at a time.
Once the cluster service is setup and running on both the servers, you can access the LUN as a cluster resource.
Server A - Cluster Server B - Cluster Server C - Off-Array/TapeBackup
Right now i am just working with Server A and Server C. Both are hooked up to a brocade switch. So are you saying that unless i put them all in a cluster they won't be able to see the same data?
Yes, the Operating system won't allow you to see the same LUN from multiple hosts without the potential for corrupting data without some kind of clustering software to manage access control.
Understandable, Can you think of any way i could run backups without adding one of the machines to the cluster? Also you said some kind of cluster software. Is there any other kind of software in windows that can do the clustering?
That is correct, now im sure i missed something.......what does the agent.config file do for me? I created one for server C and i told Server A to get the config from Server C's location...anything i might have missed?
agent.config file tells Navi agent/cli which username/system are privileged to talk to the SPs, take a look at this article for more detail explanation.
