Upgrading Flare is typically an EMC support personnel activity - you may not be able to get a step by step process for the same unless you are authorized to do so. I'll suggest to kindly get in touch with your EMC Customer Engineer or authorized service person who maintains your array. Or else, you may get in touch with EMC Account team for help and guidance.
This array is running a very old Flare Code - Release 13 to be precise - so a lot of precautions and care needs to be taken for this upgrade - and it will be a couple of upgrades - from Rel 13 to intermediate releases and then to Rel 26.
The latest Flare on CX500 is Flare 26, Patch 25 - i.e. 02.26.500.5.025 and it will be always advisable to go the latest code.
This might be an outage for you. I just upgraded one of our arrays from flare 14 to 19. VERY PAINFUL I hope it goes easier for you if you move forward. Things to watch out for: 1) Snapview sessions or clones. We had to uninstall snapview on our array during the flare upgrade because we couldn't resolve a hung snapsession. 2) if you have hosts attached to this array you will have to update drivers/software/firmware on your hosts HBA's. We jumped to flare 19 because we didn't have time to update the drivers/software/firmware on all the hosts so that they would be prepared for flare 26.
