I recently installed and configured a pair of CISCO 9148 switches running IOS 5.2(6a). I configured the TE ports and connected them to my core switches (MDS 9509). No host is zoned there yet. We now have a change in our plans and want to use that pair for NPIV type ports for 2012 Hyper V(Virtual HBAs). I have a few questions.

1. Can I mix ports on the switch(so non virtual and virtual)?

2. If so, should I leave the TE ports connected and then configured the N port on the 9148 to connect to an N port on the core? I know I have to enable NPIV on the core first.

3. Before enabling NPIV on the 9148 do I have to remove the TE connection? I know that enabling NPIV on the edge switch is distruptive.
