I placed my order with Alienware Aurora R12 on Oct 9. The order was confirmed on the same day. The original date of delivery was Dec 9. Since the confirmation date I have received two notices of delay. First to Jan and then to Feb 16. Both times the email stated parts shortages. I understand there are shortages, especially in the electronics industry. I was content to wait for my product so long as I was informed of the status.
Now, though, my order page is no longer being updated. It still shows a delivery date of Feb 16, 2022. I need to understand what my order status is. If part shortages are a problem, is there a substitution I could make to speed up the order? Not having information is not acceptable. Why am I not getting an updated status?
I checked on the lead time of a new order. I thought potentially I could cancel my order and order another version. I put in my exact configuration I order previously to see what lead time a new order was listed as and found the estimated lead time for a new order was only four weeks. How can a new order have only a four-week lead time if my order is over 4 months old?
I contacted order support again. I was sent to three different numbers before being sent to an automated line which told me my order would be delivered by Feb 16. Obviously, that was incorrect.
I requested an agent. The agent was not able to provide me with a new ship date. No new date was in the agent's system. She stated she would open a ticket to have manufacturing provide a new date. The ticket would take 24-48 hours before a new ship date could be provided.
So, in summary, after being three months delayed to the original delivery date, Dell still cannot provide me with a delivery date nor allow me to cancel with a full refund.
I spoke with the moderator and got some information. My computer is delayed due to lead time for the Nvidia graphics card. No ETA when the board would be available, but a new delivery date of March 14 is estimated.
They also suggested checking a site with pre-built systems in the future. Unfortunately, that a site was a Premier Page which I could not access.
I will keep you all informed as the saga continues.
I got hold of a helpful sales associate. He told me the Nvidia 3070 had no ETA and further delays were probable. He offered to cancel my order and replace it with a system with a comparable spec other than replacing the 3070 with a Nvidia 3060Ti board. A step down but one that was available. The new delivery date is March 31, but no hardware shortages are indicated.
I wish this option was available earlier. I will continue to post with status for this option.
It's March 11. No changes with my order which is "In Production" per the status site. The status site is useless. It provides no real information and is not updated, even when past dates.

My order has been cancelled. I wish you all the best. I will not be ordering through Dell.
