I ordered an Alienware X17 one months ago. According to the original estimated delivery date, I should already received it. But the fact is that the order status is still "Confirmed", not even entering "Production". And when the so called "estimated date" arrived, I got nothing but just found the delivery date is rudely modified to one month later even without any notification. It is utterly unreasonable at all.
Before posting this, I pushed the support for several times, but they keep replying to me like "Your order is expected to leave the factory by this Saturday" and of course they are all not true. And when I ask them is there any delay compensation, they avoid answering but repeating the same words "Your order is expected to leave the factory by this Saturday" again. So I am just helpless and try to find ways to protect my own rights.
Actually, I just think it is sort of deceptive throughout the whole process. Anyway, please keep in mind that you are the one who late; please take it seriously, and no more such perfunctory attitudes.
Given the short supply you won't receive any discount -- they know that if you cancel the order, the next customer waiting will pay full price.
If you're looking for the version with the 3060 GPU, they are available at some retailers, in stock and immediately. If you've a system on order with a higher-line GPU, they're not -- you will need to wait (or buy a different system from someone else).
They cannot ship what they can't build, simple as that.
I am in the exact same boat. I ordered the Alienware X17 on August 27. Today has been exactly one month. At the time of ordering the shipping date was October 4, which is next week Monday. My order status has not changed from “confirmed” at all since placing the order. Last week I contacted Dell via the support page and was told there is a parts shortage and everything still looks on track. Today my order is still “confirmed”. So I contacted Dell again wanting to know if my order will in fact be shipped on Monday? I spoke with a Dell representative with such attitude and not helpful at all. He tells me my estimated delivery they gave me at time of ordering the laptop was October 20, so be patient. That is a lie, I have screenshots proving the date was Oct 4. I even have it in an email with the previous Dell representative where he says the date is Oct 4. This guy wants to argue with me that I am wrong, it’s Oct 20, he says…. I’m like?? I get that there is a global chip shortage, and that will delay my order, but the problem I am having from Dell is the communication. Once these guys have your money, they are smiling and we are worrying about our orders. I am also moving out of state, which brings its own challenges because I cannot change the delivery address in my order. So if this laptop is not here by the end of November, I have no idea what I’m going to do. At this point canceling it seems like the best option. So just a little advice to whoever decides to buy a gaming laptop with Dell, that delivery date they give you “estimated” for 5 weeks after you place your order, double it. And from what I’ve been seeing on these forums from other people, you might as well triple the waiting time.
I cancelled my order. Every time I contacted Dell they gave me the same robotic response: “Your laptop is in pre production and we have even submitted an expedite to make it go faster”. I’m not hanging round hoping my laptop will reach me this year, and what makes it worse is I am moving soon, so even if I were to wait, it won’t work out if this laptop is delayed more than 2 months. I also really wanted this laptop, but it is what it is.
In the same boat. I ordered back in mid July and they aren’t even updating my order estimated delivery date after multiple delays. It’s now October 5th and I have no idea if I’m getting my X17 this year or not. I’m tempted to cancel and overpay for an Asus Strix with similar guts but I really wanted an Alienware this time around. Very frustrating that we can’t even get answers as to when they think the actual dates will be for the needed chips. I believe it’s the Intel 11800 that’s the culprit from what one of the customer reps told me. Since then though , I can’t get an answer as to what they are waiting on. I tried to see if I could swap for another part but they said that is not possible. Ugh, the wait continues I guess.
Worst response ever. Just a month ago Lenovo said there was a 3 month lead time on 3080 models, now they're in stock, ready to ship. Dell doesn't have an excuse with how big they are. Sorry not sorry. I see them building loads of retailer models and getting those on the shelves.... 3080 model should be no different. Your excuse is pathetic as theirs. Pulling my order probably tonight.
I ordered mine the middle of July. It is now October 16. I don't even get estimates as to when my laptop will arrive. I hate to as much of a fan of Alienware as I am but I need a top of the line reliable laptop not one that is blowing me off every time I request an update on my new laptop. I don't know how you are staying in business with this new horrible level of service.
