Dell is refusing refund request

My case of return and refund was declined on the grounds that returns are only allowed inside the first 30 days from the invoice date. Due to DELL's delayed delivery of this product, I was unable to test the product on time. I had requested the product be delivered before December 14 as I was flying out internationally and wouldn't be at my address for 1.5 months. They promised to do so (proof in email) but delivered it on December 15. The product lay on my doorstep for 1.5 months before I could use it. Proof of flight to and fro tickets can be provided.

When I started using the product in February, the product showed major screen issues (see attached screenshot) in its first week. On complaining to DELL on several occasions via hourly calls and emails with the technical and customer care department, they arrived at the conclusion that these were hardware problems. They assigned a case specialist to review my return request but wouldn't let me explain my unique situation to them. The case specialist declined my request for a refund on the basis of the 30 day return policy. So, DELL's inability to send the product on time was ignored and I am now being forced to use a laptop that doesn't work, at no fault of my own.

I am asking for a refund and not a replacement because this was already a replacement product, a G15 5511 special edition for a product that I originally ordered. Both products faced the same issues with the screen and graphic processor. The first laptop was so bad that in 1.5 weeks the motherboard short circuited and the laptop wouldn't start. The technical support team agreed that the issue with the replacement laptop was also in the hardware. After receiving 2 poor-quality products, I do not trust the laptop series and have requested a refund. I have ample video evidence of the malfunctioning of the laptops.

I am disappointed because instead of resolving my case, my calls were pushed from department to department (13-14 hours of call time in total) and required so many email exchanges (11 in total). I am a graduate student with student loans. I do not have time or the money to chase after Dell for hours. Also, this situation has caused me undue stress. To resolve the problem, I would appreciate either a refund of the original amount or a working laptop from a better series like XPS.

Enclosed are images of my screen. I am ready to provide copies of my records (including receipts of both laptops, model and serial numbers, email exchanges, and even my flight tickets). I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem and will wait until the 28th of February. Please contact me at the registered email address.

Unsatisfied customer,

Harshika

I am sorry. But I fail to believe I need to compensate for DELL's mistakes. I know if I end up repairing the laptop parts, I will be calling them every 3-4 months because the laptop will keep having issues. I have seen this happen to other students. That is a worse situation to be in.

At this point, your option is repair -- not replacement or refund.

Holding out for anything else will simply delay the resolution of the issue.

    Hi,

I'm Prajwal, one of the Supervisors at Dell Social Media Support. Farheen brought this case to my attention. I've reviewed your journey with us, and I apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. I reviewed your entire journey and it is disappointing to know that the replacement system has issues with the display. I understand that you are asking to have the system collected and have the order refunded. Read this. We shall get back to you as soon as we have an update on the same. Don’t worry, I’ll be making sure there are no unnecessary delays in resolving this issue. Meanwhile, I will be constantly monitoring the case until closure.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

    Hi Prajwal,

Thank you for escalating the matter. The issues are visible with the display but the problem is bigger- with the graphic processor/ motherboard as discussed with the support team.

    1. The display blacks out randomly- fully or partially.
    2. There are disturbances like static passing through the screen which makes it hazy so one can't read the text displayed.
    3. The display also shows disturbances in split-screen mode. It misbehaves leading to screen blackouts very commonly.
    4. Audio has disturbances when zoom and adobe software are open simultaneously. One can't hear the speaker clearly because the audio gets distorted.

The support team agreed that this would mean repairing multiple parts and I would be left without a laptop again.

Here is a timeline of my interaction and issues with Dell products:
    Nov 21st - order placed for Dell G15 5511
    order arrived
Issues observed - from Day 3 - graphics failed, display problems, split-screen problems, charging stopped, motherboard shut down
Dec 6th -Stopped functioning due to motherboard problem.

Dec8 th -  work order created
    Dec 9th, 10th, 13th  -  9 conversation exchanges, spanning 8 days

Dec 10th Replacement laptop request initiated (asked for timely delivery before 15th, as I was leaving)

Sending delay- Did not receive the product on the promised day.
Left for Toronto - communicated to DELL team to drop off a laptop on my arrival instead  (1.5 months later)
Arrived on Feb 01 st - started using replacement laptop

Replacement laptop use days- 12 days FEb01st to Feb 12th
Issues observed - Since day 1- Display blacks out, disturbances in screen, graphics failing, audio issues
Steady complaints and conversations with Dell led to no result

I work with heavy 3D software as an architecture student and need a reliable machine. With every minute that I do not receive a refund, I am stuck with this laptop that doesn't work. As you are well aware by now, my academics are suffering for this reason. I am okay with receiving a laptop from a different and more reliable series.

Also, I have other proof of issues with the machine. I wish to forward the video evidence, where can I send it?
