Terrible Ordering Experience
I usually do not make posts like this, but my ordering experience was so bad that something needs to be said:
I placed an order for an Alienware R10. I was told there was an issue with my credit card. No problem, I called my bank, corrected the issue and contacted Dell, then came the roller coaster ride:
- Got an email asking me to call back to verify my identity, saying failure to do so in one day will result in a cancelled order. When I called Dell back, tons of background noise on the other end. I asked the gentleman to fix the noise issue, he hanged up on me.
- Then I tried the online chat to verify my identity. I was assured everything was fine, and no further actions were required. On my order status page, my order shows "Confirmed". Emailed Dell back.
- A day later, got a call from the same Dell agent who sent out the previous email, asking to confirm my identity yet again. He asked what company I worked for (which I found weird). When I brought up that the transaction already went through, and that my identity was verified twice, he just said company policy, etc.
- 5 hours after the phone call with the agent, I received an email saying that my order was cancelled.
I tried the online chat to see what's going on, and they say they're in the sales department and don't have access to their back-end info; however, they could reinstate my order if I wished. After all the hot mess, no thanks!
