Receiving errors when trying to push iDrac updates to servers.
Hi,
I'm trying to push some iDrac updates to a bunch of servers and am getting some errors.
A number of the servers failed instantly with messages showing:
Can anyone shed any light on what that means? If says it high recommends upgrading the firmware which is what I'm trying to do. Unless by firmware it means Bios or something else..
I also had a bunch of machines that ran for about 10 minutes and then failed with:
These were mostly R640s going from 3.21.21.21 to 4.10.10.10. I did find a thread that said they had to manually install an update in between and then go all the way to the 4.10 version. Has that been confirmed as a bug/problem? Is there any way to tell OMEnt to install a version that's not the latest version so I don't have to manually update a bunch of servers?

For the first one you need to go into the application settings & set to allow SMB v1. I did this & after the systems updated I turned it back off.
For the second are you going from a version lower than 3.31.31.31 to version 4.10? If so you need to upgrade first to 3.3x before going to 4.10.

For both of the issues above, I was able to manually download the update and install it locally on the server without any problems at all. Hopefully that fixes the issue and it works next time as well.

For what its' worth, the SMB error is just a weird red herring message.
This iDrac update error also shows up on previous generations of Dell servers i.e. G12 / G13. It seems to occur when you are going from an Idrac version that is a few releases behind, to the latest version.
Sometimes clearing out the lifecycle controller job queue and rebooting the idrac itself allows you to run the iDrac update without an issue.
Doing the iDrac update manually by extracting the firmware file (firmimgFIT.d9)
out of the Windows Idrac firmware executable always works via the Idrac GUI.
I have seen manual updates fail when pointing the iDrac GUI update to the Windows executable. It complains about an extract error with the update package in the job queue - which is listed in your previous post.

When you say "go into the application settings & set to allow SMB v1", where exactly are you referring. The server that the push is going to is a Linux Server, so I am not sure if you are referring to somewhere in the OS or the iDRAC its self.

You have to go into the OME application settings - Built-in-Appliance Share. Under CIFS change from Enable V2 to Enable V1. I am on v3.8 but seems to me it was named different in older versions of OME.
You can also search the OME online help for SMB if you are on an older version.
