Hi, I have installed OME on a Windows 2008 R2 server and it can see my ESXi 5.0 servers and DRACs but I cannot see any alerts. I have installed the latest VIB and setup SNMP on the ESXi servers but I do not see any alerts in OME and I am stuck on what to do to resolve this. Any help appreciated :) cheers, John
Have you provided the trap destination as the OME machine in your ESXi host? This whitepaper should be of help for you. You need to set the trap destination on your iDRAC as well if you want to see the alerts from iDRAC.
Hi, Yes, I followed that white paper and have provided the ESXi host with the OME machine as the trap destination. I hadn't set the traps up on the DRAC's but have now. I sent a test trap from the DRAC but that did not come into OME. Any ideas on where to look next ? thanks, John
When I run vicfg-snmp --show I get the following, which seems to correct to me Current SNMP agent Settings: Enabled : 1 UDP port : 161 Communities : public Notification targets : OMEservername.domainname.com@162/public Options : EnvEventSource=indications
These settings look correct only. Can you check in your OME machine if the SNMP settings are correctly configured? You will need to check under SNMP service, navigate to Security tab and then provide the community string and select accept SNMP packets from any host. Also, make sure the firewall is configured properly in OME and all the required ports are under exception list.
