MD3000i Hot Spares
We've just taken delivery of one of these and we'rerunning some tests with RAID 5 and 6 VDs. I've assigned hot spares but when I pull a disk to test the rebuild time the hot spares don't kick in. I get alerts, the re-build wizard kicks in but tnot the spares. What are we missing?

Welcome to the site. I ran your question by the MD3000i experts here at Dell, and this was their response:
“… most likely they created several raid 5’s and created a dedicated HS to a different volume than the one they are failing. Other possibility is the hot spare is smaller than the drive failed. Those are the two things I usually see. “
If that doesn’t help, you should open a ticket with support so they can check the support logs.
