Slow network port
2 weeks ago my father bought an Inspiron 3670 to replace his aging HP machine.
He is currently running both machines, sat next to each other on his desk.
Both are connected via a Dlink 105, 5 port switch to his router.
Running the test on Speedtest.net, the HP machine gets 56mb DL and 12mb UL, the Dell machine only receives 9mb DL and 12mb UL. The tests are both connected to the same server and run one after the other.
The Dell machines drivers are up to date, as is Windows. We have tried different ports on the switch, swapping the cables over and plugging the router directly in to the Dell machine..... same results.
Any ideas what may be slowing the speed of the Dell machine down?

Disable "Smartbyte" and see if that fixes the problem. Many users have had slow or slower internet speeds with the Smartbyte and they have disabled it.

THANK YOU!! Fireberd. That worked! I am grateful to you. You are in fact a "Rockstar"! Now the question is: **bleep**? Why would Dell install such a piece of sh*t software on my machine???? and not tell anyone or give them an option??

I am having this same issue. (Inspiron 3668 5/2018 model). I have charter 200mbs service, and through the wired ethernet port I am getting 9.8 down and 10.9 up. When I plug in my 2012 Thinkpad to the same cable It shows 198mps tested at the same site. I know the problem is with this Inspiron, not the ISP. Suggestions? I would love to be able to enjoy the speed I am paying for each month. Help.

Update:
Running the machine in Safe Mode - we get the same speeds as the older machine - 60/12
If I run the speed test through MS Edge (instead of Chrome) I get 40/19??
Any thoughts appreciated.
