I loaded into Windows 10 on my computer for the first time in a while because my PC was giving problems. The first time, it loaded it, no problems. I noticed it was taking very long to load in, but I didn't bother with it.The next time i booted into Windows, it gave me a black screen with a cursor.i couldn't open task manager or anything else, so i made an installation drive, and tried to re-download Windows 10 from it to the drive, but that didn't work either. I cleared and formatted the drive and tried again, nothing happened. I have reset the cmos and everything, nothing. I had a new gpu plugged in, but when windows loaded, it was plugged in. Anyone know the problem?

Its an Inspiron 620, with an i3 2120, a gtx 660 ti sc, 4gb ram, and 2 1tb hard drives

Hope you're files are backed up on external media because you wiped the drive.
How did you reset BIOS?
What color is the power button when it won't boot? And is it steady or blinking?
What's an "installation drive"? Do you mean a USB stick? How did you create it and Is it bootable? Are you connecting the "installation drive" to PC with power off, and then powering on and tapping F12 to open the boot menu? Be specific...

I reset the bios with the two pin jumpers. The power button is white when it wont boot, and it is steady. Yes, i mean a usb stick, and I created it through a friends computer. I have been booting from it since I created it trying to fix the issue. Im connecting through the F12 boot location menu, and most of the files I cleared were either re-downloadable or unimportant. I also may have been able to fix it through the usb, but im not saying for sure until it finishes loading the files for installation.

If power button is solid white, then it passed the POST so that suggests the hardware is ok.
Is the monitor connected to an add-in video card (assuming you have one) and not to either onboard Intel UHD Graphics HDMI or VGA port on rear of PC?
Are you saying the OS installation is currently running?

Yeah, its connected to a video card. The os installation was running but didn't work, just booted into recovery and couldn't get off of it.

When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery?
Reboot and start tapping F12. Look for option to run diagnostics and run all of them, including full RAM and HDD tests.

There is an X on both hard drive 0 and cables in the diagnostic.

Error code 2000:0142 means that the hard drive has gone bad and requires a replacement.
