7586 Windows 11
Inspiron 15 7586 2-in-1 and Win 11
Inspiron 7586 is on list of those that ARE compatible with Win 11.
All requirements are fulfilled (per PC Health Check).
About 2 weeks ago I FINALLY got message offering update to Win 11.
It failed & reverted to windows 10.
Error is 0x80070002.
Now I am no longer offered Win 11.
Also I have NEVER been offered Win 10 ver 21H2
I did Troubleshooting Windows Update - a problem was found & "fixed" but update failed again.
I renamed Software Distribution folder - but update failed again too
I also renamed catroot2 & still update failed.
Has anyone with Inspiron 7586 updated to Win 11??
Yes, I did the following too:
( tho' to rename catroot2 I had to previously restart laptop at command prompt)
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftWareDistribution.old
ren C:\windows\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
exit
I ran the Win 10 21H2 update & that got reverted too -- but no error code, and nothing in update history
Has ANYONE with an Inspiron 7586 SUCCESSFULLY updated to Windows 11?

ok sounds like i'm doing a clean install but how did you get around the tpm issue, I don't have any settings that i can find in my bios and i have the latest bios as far as I can tell???

@suemccartin what is the exact model of your system? Also make sure that PTT is enabled in the BIOS.

Well, the 80070002 error means "File Not Found". I don't know what file it is referring to.
You might try downloading using the media creation tool to create the Install media. Once you have that, you can try running the setup file from the Win 10 Desktop.
