My 7786 was at 54% of a bios update. I stopped watching. When i came back the laptop was off. The power button does nothing at all. Pulling the CMOS battery and holding power for 30 secs does nothing. The power supply is good at 19V. The power supply light is not lit. Support says the motherboard is gone. Any ideas?
Unfortunately if the BIOS update failed and along the line the power went off then the motherboard is bricked and the only solution is to replace the motherboard. Look at this forum post for more information.

Apparently this may not be an isolated incident. My P30E stopped after a BIOS update. On what day did this occur, it may be systemic to Dell BIOS updates? A motherboard failure is the answer to a problem that the engineers have yet to resolve.
