Please change the power management plan to standard & check if the issue resolves.

Once the battery is fully charged (99%), restart the computer & enter BIOS screen & check the status of the battery & AC adapter.

In the BIOS screen click on power management – Primary battery configuration – Enable standard mode & check the custom charge stop range.

I also face the same problem with my Inspiron sometimes. Actually, when it charges to 100%, I turn off the charger and the next thing I notice is that the battery is less than 100% charged.

Try changing the battery settings in the Dell Power Manager application to Standard. First, install the latest Chipset drivers and Dell Power Manager Services from your Dell Product Support page. You could do this step by entering service tag number (or select Detect PC option) onto link below.

well according to me it's software issue it will be fixed after the upgrade. what I have observed so far windows take too much time to show the details of battery like how much time is left. It will be fixed after windows major update I guess.

My wife's 2014, 4th generation DELL, which always stays plugged in like mine, read 80% battery for a couple recent years.  I was waiting for it to fail and replace.  Today, it reads 100%.   I wonder how that happened.  I guess if you leave well enough alone, it fixes itself.  lol

Yup, a WIN update somewhere or other?      lol   I never bothered with it as long as the laptop was operational.  I never touch DELL driver updates, as long as the system is running accordingly........long story short.   Maybe too, it was unplugged for a bit too, and the charging miraculously came back to life or the battery itself.  lol
