I recently replaced the SSD in my laptop, reloaded the OS (Win10) and apps and have been using it for a few weeks. Occasionally I got a message that the HDD was not detected (altho I have no HDD just an NVMe SSD), however, I am now not able to boot - I just get a message "No bootable device". The BIOS shows the NVMe installed; UEFI Boot is HDD1 - Windows boot manager (only option), and the diagnostics ticked Hard Drive 1-0-1 and OS Boot path 1-0-1 where Hard Drive 1-0-1 is the NVMe drive!!
I am totally baffled why the diagnostics sees the correct configuration, but it won't boot. Any ideas (I have photos of BIOS etc, but don't know how to attach them). Is it saying my hardware is OK but, maybe, the boot sector is damaged?? If so how is that recovered without a fresh build?
Go to Bios Set UP . Disable the secure boot . 2)"" Advanced Boot option" on the left side ,make sure that ""Enable legacy option ROM "" is selected 3) Now Go to "Boot sequence " and select "Legacy" in Boot list. Restart computer and you can see the Boot devices list
I've done that (altho differences due to different BIOS I guess) and the laptop now boots. However, for a second or two before the Windows images I get a PXE-E61 error then Windows loads. The legacy boot sequence has the SSD at the top of the list.
Two questions; what is causing the PXE-E61; and is it worth trying to convert to UEFI boot?
