Max memory specified in the manual book is different than the one mentioned in the chipset family max memory.

Dell 3520  Manual Book  Max Memory: 16GB

Alder Chipset Max Memory is 64GB

Can someone help me why there is a huge difference.? I am looking to upgrade my ram to 32 GB from 16 GB if possible.
