Greetings, I have a 2017 15-3567 with the Core i3 7100U, motherboard is 0J3PPW rev. A00. This laptop was also available with a Core i5 configuration but I can't find info on whether the motherboards are the same or interchangeable. I was hoping that somebody can shed some light on this for me as I am able to get one with a fried screen and if it's possible, I'd like to put that system into my case. I just got a newer laptop so this is my backup but it's still a good laptop for what I do. I'm not into gaming or any high demand processing. I mainly use it for some light programs for construction, ProCore and such and basic internet stuff. I have done a few upgrades recently such as new Dell battery, clock battery, doubled the RAM with matching module to max 16gb, replaced LAN card with a dual band for 5g, replaced the HDD with a Hynix Gold 500gb SATA SSD, removed the optical drive into an external enclosure and replaced with a caddy drive with the original HDD. It's been a solid workhorse for me and I like the number pad keyboard layout but it would be nice to have the better processor if possible. The broken machine is free so it's only a matter of my time to swap if possible. I realize it's older tech and most will probably be like "WHY?" but it's just something I do. I like to tinker with small projects in my spare time. Anyway, thanks in advance for any input on this.
