I am a new addition to the delayed order chain of Dell customer. I placed an order for Inspiron 5402 on June 04 with an initial delivery date of June 25. I got an email from Dell on June 07 that the laptop has entered production, however, the status did not change on their tracking page. I called Dell on June 10/11 to check the status and was told it is in pre-production and there is a part shortage. The first representative said he will expedite the process and get the laptop ready by June 17/18 and will be shipped by June 20/21. Then on June 20, I received another email stating the order will be delayed with a new delivery date of July 09. When I called the customer service (which is pathetic and one of the worst in the world) the lady kept playing like a broken record (standard tactics of customer service) "I will expedite the process and make sure that the laptop is delivered on time". Seems like she is going shop to shop to procure the parts and then asking a team member to assemble it. I tweeted to and Dell for an update and one of the reps tweeted back saying "While I understand what you say but being a build-to-order manufacturer it is difficult to confirm a fixed date to build and ship an order". I think with this Dell has given me enough ammo to go to Consumer Court and their inefficient service. I am asking the community if this will be a wise decision or should I wait or just cancel the order.
Also, I am asking Dell will I ever get the laptop?

If you're that unhappy with the order process, cancel the order and purchase elsewhere - - that would be a far more effective response.
