Windows 11 upgrade
I would like to see Dell using its muscle to get Microsoft to expand the list of machines able to run Windows 11. Many laptops/pc's with powerful processors and hardware capabilities are being excluded purely on Microsofts whim and an arbitrary line in he sand. I have an Inspiron 15 5570 with 8gb RAM, I3.7th gen CPU with 256gb SSD and 1tb HDD. It appears to meet the required spec but is not compatible according to the now removed Windows 11 compatibilty checker. Surely Dell don't want us all to migrate to Mac's next time around because Microsoft has decreed we are obsolete after Windows 10 runs out in 3 plus years time

I know it's Microsoft but Dell is one of their customers with a bigger voice than mine alone so they should be able to bring some influence to bear on this crazy decision

I can't the TPM 2.0 for the 5570. That's the key gap for Windows 11. And the Secure Boot which can be done via the bios

@Meldrew161 : Unfortunately I agree with @ejn63 . I am a sys admin and have over 100 computers not eligible for this upgrade. (i am not gonna try anyways
But Microsoft is not making these limitation for no reason. Windows 11 is certainly a big step forward and in order to implement those features newer hardware is required.All those complaints of leggy performances, BlueScreens they will keep coming unless Microsoft starts controlling the hardware their OS is running ON.
When Apple does it that no one complains. We compare MACs and taunt Windows for being leggy. I think it's a positive approach which Microsoft should have taken years ago.
Its SAD for you and me, as out machines won't get the free upgrade, but future of windows OS would be brighter.

It's not up to Dell -- it's Microsoft that has so far stated that anything before the 8th generation CPU is unsupported for Windows 11.
Beyond that, the Mac platform is hardly the alternative -- within a certain period of time, all Intel Macs will become unsupported, as Apple's future is tied to their M series ARM CPUs (which notably is Apple's third CPU switch, having abandoned the PowerPC for Intel, and now Intel for Apple/ARM).
