I'll defer to someone else on the answer to #1, but I would suggest to you to perhaps clarify how the customer wishes NFSv4 to be set up.  In particular, what sort of authentication/authorization service is desired, if any?  You might also want to search Isilon KB articles to see if there's some generic NFSv4 setup info.

Anyway, to answer your second question, we should work just fine with MQ.  OneFS and NFSv4 support all the stated requirements...

I don't know much about the actual MQ application, best practices with Isilon, etc, etc.  I was just commenting on the technical requirements you asked about.

I would highly doubt it.  There's no "MQ with OneFS Implementation Guide" or similar that I know of that would specifically comment on those requirements.  As technical requirements, they're pretty fundamental to the NFS server, so there would be little reason to call them out explicitly in a document.

Did you ever get an answer to this?  My assumption is that by default nfsv4 uses mandatory locking on the Isilon, but I cannot confirm this, and if it is, how can it be changed to use advisory locking?  I am very much interested in this, since I am doing the same thing with MIQM.  thanks!

Correct.  The Isilon NFS4 server supports advisory locks out of the box.

Not today.  The NFS4 server only supports advisory locks; there is no mandatory lock functionality...
