Isilon migration
HI Team
We are planning to migrate Isilon shares to another Storage system.
Is there a way to disable specific CIFS/SMB share alone? As we would like to restrict the users from accessing the shares during the cutover to avoid any open/lock file issues. We can kill the user sessions, but that will restrict users from re-connecting ?
Also would like to know, if we remove all the users from the ACL of the specific share in the isilon and doing the final sync will copy all the file meta data's like owner of the file, permission etc., or the owner info will be mismatched as we removed the users from the ACL. pls advise.

Personally I would set the smb share to read only. If youre following microsoft practices then generally the share will have an everyone or domain users with full control and be using acls to limit access inside of shares. When I've migrated shares we set the smb share to read-only to prevent locks but allow users to use the share to access important data whilst a sync is completing. Previously we've used rsync and set the share to read only on the final delta sync before cutover, but rsync has been removed now so something like robocopy from an account with access to both platforms may be appropriate.
