/var/log conprehensive logs definitions
Hey community,
is there any documentation that outlines what every log in /var/log logs? Any documentation that provides a brief definition for what you can expect to find in each log under /var/log? How each log under /var/log can help you in the event you need insight to an issue?
I know the standard; /var/log/messages; /var/log/lsassd.log; /var/log/lwiod.log; /var/log/netlogond.log. I am looking for a document that outlines them all never the less.

I also found KB article 88694 (requires login to EMC Online Support site). It doesn't provide descriptions for every log file, but it does for some and links to relevant KB's. As Peter mentioned, if you have a specific log message that you're wondering about, let me know and I can pass this info along to update this KB.

Most logs are simply named after OneFS daemons, so this list should help (it covers 7.0 as well as 7.1):
OneFS 7.0: List of services and daemons
Any logs left unexplained just post them here and we will see what we find out...
