Latitude E7250 - Thermal Shutdown
My laptop is coming up to 5 years old and I believe the warranty expires in January 2020. Recently I've noticed the fan ramps up to around 7000rpm within a couple of minutes from switching on from cold, diagnostics shows the CPU thermistor running at 98c (high) and 67c (low). I've experienced several shutdowns simply from watching Sky Sports Live.
So I tried wiping the system and reinstalling Windows 10 and the latest drivers but the problem persists
I've removed the back panel and can see no dust blocking the vents, what other issues cause this problem?

I've checked the service tag and it does say Warranty: Pro Support - Expires 24 Jan 2020
I used the Dell Command Update to download all the drivers
Could the CPU/motherboard need replacing?

Check your warranty status at Dell Support web page. There are no 5 yr extended warranties that I know of.

One thing to consider--laptops rarely get driver updates and if there are any, they must come from Dell. Dell customizes driver for your exact model. If you have installed non dell drivers, get the right Dell drivers from the Dell page-- https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/latitude-e7250-ultrabook/drivers
