Precision 3510 laptop will not power up

Precision 3510 laptop will not power up:  Pressing the power button does nothing. It was working just hours earlier.

Tried with no charger, and with charger.
Tried with no battery (charger only).
Tried alternate charger (known working).
Pressed and held power button with no battery and no charger for over 30 secs, then reapplied power.
Removed battery and charger and let sit overnight.

All to no avail.

With the bottom cover off I can tell the heat sink is getting quite hot - hotter than I think is normal (but not sure).

Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Dell Community @mike65535

Have you tried to reset the CMOS/BIOS???

    Dell Precision 3510 Owner's Manual:

    https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/precision-m3510-workstation_owners-manual_en-us.pdf

    Disconnect the AC adapter.

    Remove the Base Cover.

    Disconnect the Main battery.

If you can at this point just disconnect the CMOS/BIOS battery.

Hold down the Power button for 10-15 seconds.

Now connect the AC adapter and try to boot.

    Best regards,

This resolved the issue for us. Overheating. Disconnecting BIOS makes the unit do a hard reset. Thanks!
