Are Dell Linux-configured laptops incompatible with Windows Vista?

Does anyone know if Dell laptops that are shipped with Linux installed have hardware or BIOS modifications that make them incompatible with Windows? I recently bought a XPS M1530 with Ubuntu installed and would like to set it up to dual boot with Windows Vista. However, when I run the Vista installer it is unable to recognize the touch pad or the keyboard, and cannot get past the first screen of the install wizard.

    DougD2,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Dell does not modify the bios or hardware to keep the system from running Windows. Did you first install Vista prior to installing Ubuntu?

Thanks for your reply! Ubuntu was already installed when I received the laptop from Dell. My plan was to

install Vista over it, create a second partition and then re-install Ubuntu in the new partition.
