My Dell Inspiron 6000 came with Bluetooth support built in. I have used my Bluetooth cellphone headset with it in conjunction with Skype while running Windows XP Pro, so I know the hardware works.
Ubuntu Feisty Fawn claims to support Bluetooth, so it remains to be seen if it has the smarts to see the Bluetooth interface on my Dell hardware. I just installed Feisty on my 6000.
I use a Dell XPS ML1210 with Ubuntu 7.04, and the Wireless 350
Bluetooth modules work out of the box. It's not really a
question of which computer model will work, but the bluetooth
adapter chipset, and whether or not the laptop has the
appropriate slot to fit the card in. I would expect similar
results with related bluetooth cards.
There are several HOW-TO's on the web that will show you how to
get the headsets working with Skype and other apps. A couple
additional packages installed make the adapter usage virtually
complete.
