Problem with Intenet connection in UBUNTU

Hi all,
I just installed Ubuntu in my inspiron 8200, but I could not get to my wireless connection.
Do you know what should I do to set up wireless internet connection?
Is there a driver to install for linux??
I have window xp in an other partition and it works verry good .

    You can install ndiswrapper package and install your windows Wi-Fi drivers. Should be quite easy. Check http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/ to see if your hardware is supported.

    ndis may be the best choice, but if you know what wirelss card you have try http://linux-wless.passys.nl/, its quite good for finding what works, what sorto works and what doesn't work

    Which version of Ubuntu? 7.04 Feisty has the best support for wireless so far.

    My ubuntu is 6.06  , I did download ndiswrapper  (ndiswrapper_1[1].43.tar) but I dont know how to install it,  and I download Windows wi-fi driver (R46482)(true_mobil_1180) but since it's file .exe , ubuntu cannot run it when i double clic on it.
    Please help step by step , I like to go with linux .

    I confirm that version 7.04 is very much better and easier to use with wireless for a beginner. It would be worth trying to get this version even if you continue to try with version 6.06. good luck

    I can second that 7.04 is far and away better with the wireless. On my two machines (XPS Desktop and XPS Laptop), 6.06 gave me fits with wireless, but 7.04 presented zero trouble.

    Did anyone mention: System>administration>network>wireless device>properties ? You'll have to insert the name of your wireless network and in put the wep key. Once that's done it should show your wifi lit up.

    I found that 7.04 found my network automatically; all I had to do was set my key and TKIP settings (using WPA-PSK). 6.06 wouldn't offer you more that WEP by default IIRC.

    ndiswrapper is great, but adds a level of complexity as it installs a driver that talks to the Windows driver for your card. If you can find a native Linux driver things will be much simpler. What is your card? Do you know the chipset the card uses?
