Alienware 14 - Vertical Line On Screen
Hi,
I got a new Alienware 14 inch laptop today and I am seeing a blue vertical line across the screen. This is not consistent, but happens very often. Is this something I have to raise with Dell Support Team? Help appreciated.
Thanks,
Siju

I think this cannot be a coincidence. My Alienware 14 is also about two years old now. When I first unpacked it there was a black vertical line on the screen. The screen was replaced by an engineer from Dell under warranty and since then i have had no problems.
Just a few days ago i was working on my laptop without a problem. After getting a drink i sat down before my laptop again and there was a bright yellow vertical line on the screen. I have an attached 24" monitor and there was no line there.
The line only shows on the monitor of the laptop itself. Sometimes it is bright and sometimes almost invisible. Also sometimes it's color changes to blue.
This is really strange. I don't think it's the display itself. I suspect it's the 765m gpu.KeithinSydney

I am having the same problem. I have a two year old Alienware 14 with a build date of July 2013.
I turned it on today and have a vertical line about one third in from the right edge of the screen.
As I'm typing this, a second one has just appeared near the centre of the screen so it looks like my situation is deteriorating.
While this laptop is two years old, it has been rarely used so I'm pretty disappointed that this is happening.
I've also noticed the line is even appearing over the boot screen so it doesn't appear to be driver related, it looks like a definite hardware issue. I haven't tried plugging in to an external monitor yet.
I'm suspecting it has something to do with the internal connection from the GPU to the display.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Are you able to connect the system to an external monitor so we can check if the problem is with the LCD or with the video card?
