Alienware 17 (r1) having problems
Good day everyone, I have an alienware 17 w/c I purchased May of last year. It had some problem with the motherboard August of last year and Dell replaced the motherboard. After that, I did not experience any problem until 2 days ago, it acted weirdly. Every time I open a game, the fan will go nuts and go full speed and there are 2 outcomes, 1 is the laptop will restart and the other one is it will hang for like 5 seconds then the fan will stop completely and I will be able to use the laptop again. Another problem that I have noticed is, when I wake up my laptop, (my power option is set to never turn the hard disk or put to sleep, its only the display that turns off) it opens the display and get stuck/hang there. I cant do anything but to press and hold the power button and turn it off. I remember updating my video card driver the day before this stuff started happening but I tried to revert the video card driver back and I also tried cleaning the fan but it did not help. I don't know now what to do.

I will recommend you to check the temperatures when the system is idle and stress out.
As well uninstall completely the video card driver from the control panel and install the latest version you find in the Dell website.
** If by any chance you have update the system and the support assist updated and since then you are having the issue with the fans follow the steps on this [DEAD LINK /owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19618918]sticky post.**
