Alienware x51 Locking Up

Hello, I recently bought an Alienware x51. For the most part, I have loved it. I've gotten every penny i paid for out of it. But every once in a while I run into a very large and annoying problem. I will try to explain what happens the best  I possibly can.

What happens is that while I'm using my computer, the lights on the tower shut off, the back light on my TactX keyboard shut off, and the lights on my TactX mouse shut off. When this happens, the mouse becomes completely unresponsive, making it useless. But for some reason the keyboard is still functional. When the problem occurs, everything still runs as normal on the screen, but I just can't use the mouse, but I can somewhat navigate the computer with my keyboard. For example, when it happened to me today, I was watching a YouTube video when the mouse became unresponsive, but the video continued to play as normal. The only way I've been able to fix this problem is to completely shut off the computer and turn it back on, hoping it doesn't happen again.

I've had my Alienware x51 for a few months now, since the new year to be exact. The first time this problem happened i just kind of ignored it, thinking it was no big deal. But recently, this has been happening a lot more. I have tried everything. I have looked all over the Internet to try and find a solution to the problem, but I haven't found anybody with the same exact problem as I am having. I'm just hoping that someone will know what to do to fix this because I'm starting to get to the point where I'm becoming scared that the computer will stop working altogether.

Just to give you an idea, here are the specs of my computer:

  • Windows 8 Operating System
  • 3rd Gen. Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz (8M Cache) Processor
  • 16 GB DDR3 of Memory at 1600 MHz
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Graphics Card 1.5 GB GDDR5
  • Dell U2410 1920x1200 Monitor

I'm sorry this is long but I just wanted to get as much information out there as possible so I can find a solution to the problem and to see if anyone else has experienced the same problem. Thank you.

Also, another thing. There is nothing in particular that I do on my computer that triggers the problem. One time I was watching a YouTube video, another time I was playing a game, and a few other times I was just simply on the Internet. Again, it would be greatly appreciated if I could get help with my problem. Thanks!
